Extremely rare original edition of the influential French translation of Jansenius' famous ""Discourse on the Reform of the Inner Mann"", held for a congenial company in Affligem Abbey. It contains in a nutshell his central idea: men are predestined to obtain grace or to suffer condemnation. This is the germ out of which the ""Augustinus"" grew. The translator Robert Arnauld d'Andilly (1589-1674) in 1644 became one of the Solitaires of Port-Royal and a leading figure in French Jansenism.
