BLOEMAERT, Abraham (after)

Red chalk on wove paper, 21 x 155 mm, unsigned. Under passe-partout (hinged by upper edge). After one of the engravings in Abraham Bloemaert's 'Tekenboeck', plate 68, published in 1650-56. The book was a popular model book for beginning artists on composition and anatomical rendering. The same engraving was also used by Hendrick Van Beaumont in a drawing of 1696 (Rijksmuseum, RP-T-00-464-3(R))
