[OTTO EGE'S '1353' MISSAL]

Single large leaf, 322 by 231mm, with double column of two sizes of 26 lines of a late gothic bookhand, nine 2-line initials in red or blue with ornate contrasting penwork, two larger initials in coloured acanthus leaves enclosing further foliage on gold grounds, each initial within a coloured gold-edged frame, small spots and stains, marks at head of verso from last mounting, else good condition

From a handsome Missal dispersed by the biblioclasts Philip Duschnes and Otto Ege, with leaves appearing first in Duschnes' cat. 48 in 1941, no. 39 (see S. de Ricci, Census of Medieval and Renaissance Manuscripts in the United States, II, p. 1947, no. 64, and S.
