[MEDIEVAL DRAGONS]

Two border cuttings, probably from a Book of Hours, with two roaring dragons, on vellum
[France
early fifteenth century]
€500 - €700

Two cuttings, each trimmed to border, with remains of border decoration of scrolling coloured foliage ending in red, blue and gold ivy leaves, these emerging from the tails of two dragons in red and blue, one with a foliate tongue coming from its mouth and the other turning to bite at its own wing, some spots and stains, overall in good condition, 155 by 90mm and 95 by 37mm (both once laid down on early twentieth-century card, smaller piece now loose)
